Do you have health and weight problems?
The Balance Plan is a healthy eating plan that is designed to suit you, your health and lifestyle. You may or may not be looking to lose weight but looking for a healthy diet that will make you feel much better, provide more energy and improved functions of the body's systems. Become aware of any food intolerances you may not have been aware of, which could be having a detrimental affect on you body.
We are all to aware that some people are able to lose weight and keep it off quite easily but there are others, men and women, who occupy the 'middle ground' with weight and health problems that are not severe enough to get full support from an already overstretched health system. There are many people who are diet veterans, having tried various different diets that include low fat, low carb, low calorie and so many more! Unfortunately the success rates for dieting is as miserable as the diet often makes you feel. These 'quick fix' and 'one fits all' type diets not only don't work but could make health deteriorate faster. In short term these fad diets may appear to work but long term may upset your unique biochemistry, anything from regaining lost weight, depression, fatigue, food cravings, PMS, insulin resistance to perhaps contributing to a chronic or degenerative conditions.
The people who then occupy the 'middle ground' could be therefore find themselves putting a strain on their arthiritc joints or be at risk of developing diabetes. Abdominal fat is increasing and is an indicator for an increased risk of diabetes or cardiovascular disease in the future.

The Balance Plan
I work as a Balance Plan Practitioner, part of the Balance Plan Team which is based at the Therapy Network, Somerton. The Balance Team includes other complimentary therapists with training in nutrition. The Balance Team's philosophy is that the body is designed to be self healing, think of how a cut heals. Although not every condition can be reversed, it is in the body's interest to make ongoing repairs and prevent further deterioration. The body therefore just needs to be given an opportunity to do this and the Balance Team aims to provide you with a plan to help improve your body's functions such as metabolism, immunity, absorption, reduction in pain and inflammation, energy levels and body shape.
The Balance Team believes that no single practitioner knows it all and that they are able to offer different and complementary skills to support clients. Each team member is able to draw on the knowledge and skills of the others, to the benefit of you the individual client. Balance doesn't intend to replace advice from your doctor but is aimed at providing you with an individual, easy to follow plan, including nutrition and stress management advice, to support your individual goals. Your plan aims to be supportive, running alongside any other interventions or medications.
Step One - The first step would be to see me for a consultation and assessment, taking into account your health issues, lifestyle and commitments and a few health checks e.g. blood pressure. So it's not just about your weight.
Step Two - Following the initial assessment, you will see a member of the Balance Team within a few days, who will give you your first part of the personalised of the Balance Plan.
Step Three -The Plan will then continue with a further five plans intergrated to your individual needs at your own pace.
The Balance Plan team are here to offer support and we do look at the wider issues such as stress, time constraints, family commitments, financial constraints, mobility restrictions or other health problems. Issues that often have an impact on what food choices we make. Experience has shown that integrating changes in simple stages often works better than trying to do it all at once, so the plan is intergated at one step at a time, at a pace to suit you. Remember we are all unique and therefore have unique needs. Put simply, to find balance we need to provide our bodies with the opportunity and the best internal environment in order for self healing to take place.
Depending on how long you take to integrate a Balance Plan stage, you can choose to attend weekly, fortnighly or monthly. The only proviso is that if you haven't attended for 8 weeks, you will need to re-do the initial assessment in case any changes have occurred.
Benefits of the Balance Plan
Other optional benefits
The Balance Team also offer other a range of other skills from their therapies that they are practitioner's in. These include massage, support for ear and sinus problems or skin problems, nutrition, stress and pain management, colour and light therapy and iridology. For further details please contact the relevant therapist.
There is also an option to incorporate a treatment in conjunction with the Balance Plan. For example, as a Neuro Muscular Transmission (NMT) Practitioner, I believe that NMT, in conjunction with an individual Balance Plan that includes targeting inflammation and pain, can make a very powerful synergistic combination for many conditions.
How does it work?
Once you have had your initial assessment and health check and received your first personalised plan at step two, you can then at step three choose -
A) For £20.00, continue to attend for a standard half hour one-to-one to collect the further stages of the plan OR
B) For £40.00 opt to collect the next stage of your plan and at a 45 minute session to include an NMT treatment to complement your Balance Plan programme.
You can choose either A or B right the way through the programme or switch between A and B. Prices may vary with the therapists within the Balance Team depending on which therapy you wish to have. Please ask for details with the individual therapist.
